Paul, Patti and kids arrived in Dayton on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1995, shrewdly ahead of an Ohio blizzard that dumped 13 inches overnight on their hotel doorstep with drifts over three feet deep. They stayed ahead of the storm because Paul kept a close watch on the skies. He worked as a meteorologist at the time.
Paul and Patti have watched the kids grow up and out (and occasionally back in) since then. They have always enjoyed a variety of music. Paul and Patti have been fortunate to live in or near some vibrant music communities not only locally here in Southwestern Ohio, but also in towns like Madison, Chicago, Milwaukee, Tucson, Boulder, and even Salt Lake City reknowned for its Utah Jazz! Paul's father loved the sounds of "Hot Jazz" with Louis Armstrong, ragtime, Chicago jazz, and big band swing like Benny Goodman, Duke, and the Count. As a kid, it was fun for Paul to listen to his father's scratchy records of Fats Waller, Spike Jones, and Django Reinhardt. His mother loved Italian Opera and the amazing music of the Broadway musicals. Paul learned to appreciate music more when he tried to fat finger his way through clarinet lessons and his old teachers appreciated it more when he put that instrument on some dusty shelf to stay. Paul is thankful Patti and the kids love music as well and have indulged his lifelong passion for listening. He thanks you for listening too! |
